VIDEO OF THE MOMENT: Point Blank (Feat. Mark Mckay) - God Only Knows [Underground]
Point Blank's debut album, Point Blank is noted in an article by Jesse Plunkett currently featured on Allhiphop.com. With a groundbreaking first single "Born and Raised in the Ghetto" giving way to the group's first Much Music Video Award nomination in 2007; in addition to the amount of attention the group has garnered to date, it's no surprise the group is mentioned in an article titled: "Canadian Invasion: Coming to America". The article highlights the public anticipation for the self-tilted album, since the release of their first single last year: THE ALBUM IS ALMOST HERE IN AUGUST!!!!

UPDATE! UPDATE! Look closely on the top right hand corner. While most blogs are concentrating on the screen queen who made the cover, Canadian hip-hop fans are looking at that feature about Canuck rapper Belly. It actually reads "behind the scenes of a hip-hop flop." OMG! You'll have to pick that September issue up to see the details.
NEW UPDATE: After grilling the folks at KING today, someone told me that it was not about the Canadian Rapper but rather about the movie "Belly." Belly is a hip-hop movie some 10 years ago that supposedly FLOPPED!
All the August issues are sizzling and will be on the stands in days. Happy reading!!! Jeezy is to make his acting debut in the new ICE CUBE comedy JANKY PROMOTERS. The Soul Survivor star, real name Jay Jenkins, will join Ice Cube and actor Mike Epps in the film, about a pair of shady concert promoters who get involved with a hip-hop star, played by Young Jeezy. The movie will be directed by Friday After Next filmmaker Marcus Raboy.
There are some things you should never leave home without. One is that American Express card Diddy's twin girl is playing with. The other is a shirt on Rick Ross' BACK! I was eating when I saw this next cover of XXL hip-hop magazine and I almost choked on my salmon steak and traded my Kool Aid for a Gator "aid" as I became severely nauseated! DJ Khaled looks scared straight!
We asked if magazines had an award show, which one would be your fave. You said XXL magazine with 38% of the votes. Kudos to Canada's Urbanology for coming second with 24% of the votes and Source, Vibe and Hiphop Weekly came third.
Music magazine Vibe, seeing a big drop in advertising pages, is cutting its rate base while raising its cover price. Owner Wicks Group of Companies is said to be quietly trying to gauge interest among potential buyers. CEO Steve Aaron insists: "We're not for sale." More to come, so stay tuned as the owners are still in denial!
Remember this hot cover of Canada's URBANOLOGY magazine? Point Blank is one of Toronto's best hip-hop groups. "Our Own from the hood!" You have Compton, Harlem, Bankhead and The Swats in Atlanta, East Baltimore and more. but that sign is that of Regent Park, one of the toughest neighborhoods in T-Dot but also a place where many grew up and produced some phenomenal rap groups. Don't be scared! I went there once and visited the area. There is nothing in fear but fear itself. In the video below, hear what Point Blank has to say........Video is titled "Born and raised in the Ghetto." Thanks to Craigg of Urbanology Magazine for sending me these covers. Pick up your next issue man!
The second video below is like a documentary form our newspaper National Post did about Point Blank's living in the Ghetto.Language discretion advised.
Remember when SOURCE magazine folded up due to beef and bankruptcy? That ain't happening to Urbanology any time soon. This magazine is Canada's leading hip-hop magazine and it's making waves in the US. As you know the Canadian Tourism Board is in the process of making Florida our 11th Province (LOL!) and also Urbanology is going to be the leading hip-hop urban publication in the USA soon! Source is back, XXL, King and many more, but watch out for Urbanology. Watch out Benzino!
It's the May 2008 issue. Weezy says......."Don’t judge me until you meet me. And you know when you gonna meet me? Never. So don’t judge me. Don’t worry about my health because what you doing? And when you tell me what you doing, I bet it ain’t half as great as what I’m doing. I smoke, drink, and do what, who, and how I want and I’m going to keep doing. And I’ma die the way I want. And that’s that." He wants to be a Bob Marley and a Tupac. Their lives mean so much. I wanna mean so much after I’m gone. Y’all still gotta do shows, tributes, dedicate 20 whole minutes to me on every show. I want that. Lil Wayne on wanting respect as an artist: I still feel like I’m not being respected. I still feel like I don’t have the crown. I still feel like there’s something I have to do that hasn’t been done
Remo Da Rapstar teams up once again with DJ Big Mike to release “Ghetto Hero: the Life and times of Triple Beam Reem” due in stores March 31st. With his first two releases, Remo was able to pave his path towards a successful career while building a loyal fan base. “Rapstar Phenomenon” and “One Hit Away” gave him the right exposure making him the hot feature on the web and in magazines such as XXL, The Source, Loud and on TV stations such as MTV. Along with the album, Remo is once again providing ringtones, wallpapers and digital downloads available for his fans directly from his website www.remodarapstar.com.
Richie Sosa f. Remo Da Rapstar - Count Money video
Inspired by the overall response of his first two tapes, Remo was excited to get back in the studio and tell yet another tale. “Ghetto Hero” is a reflection of the streets from his perspective; things he sees happen around him and things he has had to endure and go through. “From top to bottom the whole project is my alter ego – Tripple Beam Reem – my reflection of the hood,” says Remo who believes that personal experiences are appreciated most by his fans. With “Ghetto Hero” Remo hopes to bring his listeners a step closer to reality. "Ghetto Hero" is packed with head banging records like “Count Money” featuring the first artist under Remo's All City Distro imprint Richie Sosa, who is also slated to drop his first release "Banned from America" in April 2008. The album boasts 10 tracks of originality painting a picture perfect image of the reality in the streets. From reminiscing about growing up hard in records like “Back home”, to talking about the frustration of having to make a dollar out of 15 cents, having false hope, being addicted to fame and money in tracks like “My world”, “Something’s Gotta Give” and “Pipe Dreams”, Remo doesn’t hold back on anything.
“Ghetto Hero” brings Remo back to where he started, while offering diversity in content evoking emotion that ranges from happiness, to sadness, despair, frustration and adherence. The album will be solely distributed by All City Distro, owned and operated by Remo Da Rapstar. All City Distribution market, distribute, promote and create product for people in the most innovative and ground-breaking ways and this will be the second street album that has corresponding and interactive online downloads for the fans after Remo’s “One Hit Away.”
This VIBE cover is OFF THE WALL instead of OFF THE CHAIN! Janet looks nothing like her brother here. Whoever this idea's is at Vibe needs to get another job.....elsewhere!
