Jay-Z demanded a watermelon carved in the shape of wife Beyonce Knowles' bust during his stay in Africa. The rapper wanted the bizarre sculpture to be displayed in his $5000-a-night hotel room where he was staying ahead of his performance at the THISDAY Festival in Nigeria on Friday (11.07.08). A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "One giant watermelon was split in two and ornately carved into a mould of Beyonce's breasts. Two cherries were used as nipples." The rapper - who controversially headlined Glastonbury earlier this summer, despite claims from Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher that hip-hip wasn't right for the festival - performed a duet with Rihanna at the concert, dubbed Africa Rising.

The pair performed the Barbadian beauty's number one hit 'Umbrella' before Jay-Z went solo for a rendition of his duet with Beyonce, 'Crazy in Love'. The concert - which aims to find sustainable solutions to the economic and political problems facing the continent - also featured performances from Mary J. Blige, Usher and a speech from model Naomi Campbell.

We wonder what Tina Knowles would say about that! I called the hotel manager at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, Nigeria and he told me that $5000/night was for Jay-Z's collection of suites. My dad who's a former State Governor in Nigeria stays in the penthouse of that hotel when he travels over there for meetings and he pays like $400/night! But for the kinda money Jay-Z has, I will carve that watermelon in the shape of any of Beyonce's body parts even if it meant flying the knives in from Japan!

CHOMP: Tiger in Rick Ross videoshoot bites trainer's ass and Ross says---"it's all good?"

Rapper RICK ROSS has downplayed a tiger attack on an animal trainer on the set of his video - insisting he escaped with minor injuries. The hip-hop star was shooting a video for his single Here I Am, when the trainer was bitten in the leg by the big cat. But Ross insists the unnamed trainer has recovered from the incident because it isn't the first time he has suffered at the tiger's paws.

He says, "Forty five minutes into the shoot, the trainer is doing his thing with the tiger, and the tiger just grabbed his ass! Did his thing. "It wasn't his first time being bit - (but) he got bit pretty good. I wasn't too far from it... It was all good - the tiger was on the chain. You had to be there to see that it wasn't out of control. It wasn't crazy, he wasn't getting mauled. It was the owner/pet thing. He plugged him good! I let (the trainer) know he had to finish my video. Say what Rick? Good thing I was not the Producer! Civil rights activist REVEREND AL SHARPTON has blasted allegations he demanded money from hip-hop producer DR. DRE to end a disagreement between rival rappers 50 CENT and THE GAME. Bruce Williams, a confidant of the superproducer and author of a recently-released book about him, claims Sharpton issued an ultimatum to Dre to end the long-running feud between the two stars in early 2005, shortly after The Game had been axed from 50 Cent's G-Unit crew.

Sharpton is alleged to have challenged the Forgot About Dre hitmaker to settle the pair's discrepancies and pay up $500,000, or he would lead a National Action Network (NAN) march and call for fans to boycott the stars' music.But Sharpton and representatives for his NAN organisation have staunchly denied the claims. In a statement issued to AllHipHop.com, they say: "The National Action Network and Reverend Al Sharpton were not involved with and did not attend a press conference held by Hip-Hop artists The Game and 50 Cent to announce their truce and donation to charities.

"At no point has Reverend Al Sharpton or an authorised representative of National Action Network met with Dr. Dre." The Game and 50 Cent held a joint press conference in May 2005 to publicly declare a truce. They also made a combined donation of $253,500 to the Boys Choir of Harlem, New York. However, the two rappers have since reignited their feud.

You know that I will continue to remain on DMX side.....regardless.....On April 15, Mayo Clinic doctors thought they were treating a man named Troy Jones for pneumonia. But it was really Earl Simmons, better known as rapper DMX, trying to dodge a hospital bill, according to court documents obtained Friday. The rapper checked into the Phoenix campus’ emergency room, complaining of shortness of breath and chest pains, the documents said. “Someone in the projects is going to get the bill,” Simmons told a visitor to his hospital room, according to a May 9 search warrant served on the hospital by Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies.

The search warrant said Simmons provided the hospital “false information including name and address for billing purposes,” and that the high-profile rapper had committed the crime of “theft of services.” A confidential source inquired about Simmons’ room, but was told the hospital had no patient by that name. The source later said Simmons told him he checked in as Troy Jones to avoid paying the bill.

Still, Simmons, who owns a clothing line and acts, appears to be struggling financially. He and his wife, Tashera, who have four children, were sued in Maricopa County Superior Court last year by American Express Travel for $64,866 plus late charges, interest on a credit card and attorneys’ fees. The couple had paid a portion of the bill, but with other fees, still owed $83,353, as of April 23, court records said. I wonder if the Arizona media would report the story if it was someone else with a stage name or another race! The New York Post reports that Queen Pen, a tough-talking rapper and advocate for domestic violence victims, is in fear for her life as police hunt her ex-boyfriend, who allegedly pummeled her in front of their children and broke her Grammy Award in a fit of blind rage.

Rapper REMY MA's wedding to long-term partner PAPOOSE has been called off after the groom tried to break his bride-to-be out of jail. The hip-hop star - real name Remy Smith - faces 25 years in jail after she was found guilty of shooting a woman outside a New York nightclub last year 2007. But rapper Papoose - real name Shamele Mackie - was determined to proceed with their pre-planned nuptials and the pair decided to exchange vows in Rikers Island prison in New York on Monday (12May08).

Rap superstar 50 CENT had his diamond-encrusted chain stolen by an overzealous fan during a recent concert in the African country of Angola. The In Da Club hitmaker, real name Curtis Jackson, was performing in Luanda with his G-Unit crew when one man jumped up onto the stage and grabbed the jewellery from his neck.

In grainy video footage posted online, the assailant can be seen running off with the chain as 50 Cent and his entourage chase after him. According to TMZ.com, 50 Cent caught up with the thief and is alleged to have punched him before claiming back his prized chain. A source tells the website, "The chain is around 50's neck right now." The National Enquirer is reporting that Bobbi Kristina tried to kill herself: Whitney Houston’s 15 year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina tried to stab her mom during an argument and then attempted to kill herself by slashing her wrists! The shocking suicide attempt landed Bobbi Kristina in a psychiatric ward in Atlanta, sources said.

Ann Davis, a family member said that a few days before Bobbi’s 15th birthday party that Kristina “tried to stab Whitney” before turning the razor on herself. Davis confided that part of Kristina’s problem is that she doesn’t want to live with Whitney.” I have only met this sweet child once when I covered her 12th birthday in 2005. Music mogul DAMON DASH has been accused of taking his teenage son to visit a relative's dead body in a morgue. So? What happened to paying respects? Wait a minute....I think I said MORGUE!! Not funeral home. That's graphic Dame!

Linda Williams - the mother of Dash's 16-year-old son Damon Dash II - has added the claim to her ongoing custody battle with the star. She insists the star took their son to a mortuary to identify his uncle, who had committed suicide by a gunshot to the head. Now that's freaking graphic Dame. The kid can end up with PTSD (Post traumatic stress syndrome.)

In documents filed at the Family Court of the State of New York, Williams further claims her son - who is currently residing with Dash - is "living with no hot water (sic) or electricity for two months in his bedroom". Williams demands Dash pay $3,600 for their son to go to the city's Hoftstra Basketball Camp and place $10 million in a trust fund. Williams has been fighting Dash for custody since 2003. That's a long time!! Dash - who is expecting his second child with wife Rachel Roy - was unavailable for comment.

50 CENT has dismissed reports his mentor EMINEM is battling problems with his weight, insisting the SLIM SHADY star is "looking good". Later in the night a shooting took place at the event and Whitney escaped to her waiting SUV. She immediately tried to shield herself from the paparazzi and it is reported that J. Records Executive, Clive Davis is extremely upset that Whitney was out and about hanging with Ray J.

Clive has been trying for over a year to clean up Whitney's image in anticipation of her new comeback album later this year, but it is not working. Clive has asked Whitney on a number of occasions to stay clear of Ray. J, Bobby Brown and undesirable environments.
